Working the vineyard
We apply as perfectly as possible the BIO-DYNAMIC method developed by Rudolf Steiner in 1924 in his “Course for farmers”.
Respect for the soil:
- Mechanised work with a quad so as not to damage
the soil. Spontaneous vegetation 6 months per year. Sowing of different kinds of cereals between the rows of vines. Ploughing in very dry soil.
Respect for the plants:
- Beginning of pruning when the days begin to
lengthen – after 25 December. No chemical products.
Respect for natural rhythms:
- The moon, for
instance.
Respect for people:
- Flexible working hours. Manual work is done standing up.
Respect for the land:
- The manure, used sparingly, is only
compost made with the manure of our own animals: chickens, donkeys, horses and a flock of sheep living in our valley (recognised by the “Conservatoire des sites Bourguignons”, an organisation for
sites of particular natural interest).
